THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH
There are a couple of other views of Bow Fiddle Rock in my Scotland image gallery (see a horizontal version or a vertical version). Both the other images show the Rock lit by gorgeous evening light. I'm quite proud of those images, and I remember the pleasure I had in photographing the rock as the sun cast a golden spotlight on it. But I quite like this view, too, after the sun set in the west and the sky behind the Rock started to reflect the beautiful light of sunset. It emphasises the rather remarkable shape of the Rock. What amazed me about the many times I came to Portknockie to photograph the sea arch that there was never anyone there. Just me, and the sea, and the setting sun. Well, I tell a lie; one time as I climbed up the path to where I had parked my car I saw a very bored teenager sitting against a stone wall, staring into space. He seemed oblivious to the beauty of his surroundings. Maybe he'd seen it all before, but my goodness, how do you stay unmoved by such natural beauty as this?
