THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH
Russel Burn spills down from Loch Coire nan Arr and empties into Loch Kishorn at the base of Beallach na Ba - the Pass of the Cattle - that leads to Applecross. The scenery is simply staggering, and the narrow road winds back and forth up the pass like an Alpine track. Off to one side of the pass is the burn, where you will find a lovely series of waterfalls like this one. When I was photographing I had to share the space with a couple of other photographers who seemed to be taking pictures of the flora around the falls. Perhaps they were naturalists, or interested in macro images of Highland flowers. All I know is that they kept focussing down at the ground, while my attention was focussed up, at the wonderful view of the falls tumbling down the burn, with the conical peak above it. I love this view!
